Intelligent Streaming and Intelligent Dynamic Noise Reduction for low network strains and storage costs

Extended Dynamic Range mode to see details in bright and dark areas simultaneously

Easy to install with auto zoom/focus SR lens, wizard and pre-configured modes

This camera provides clear images 24/7 – even at night or under low-light conditions. The exceptional starlight sensitivity enables this camera to work with a minimum of ambient light. The extended dynamic mode provides detailed images in scenes with challenging lighting.

The camera is available in 1080p or 720p resolution versions and provides up to 60 images per second. The aesthetic vandal-resistant housing makes the camera suitable for indoor or outdoor installation.

Functions

Exceptional low-light performance

The latest sensor technology combined with the sophisticated noise suppression results in an exceptional sensitivity in color. The low-light performance is so good that the camera continues to provide excellent color performance even with a minimum of ambient light.

Fast performance

The 60 frames per second mode provides for optimum performance in fast action scenes that ensures no critical data is lost.

High Dynamic Range

The camera has High Dynamic Range. This is based on a multiple-exposure process that captures more details in the highlights and in the shadows even in the same scene. The result is that you can easily distinguish objects and features, for example, faces with bright backlight.

The actual dynamic range of the camera is measured using Opto-Electronic Conversion Function (OECF) analysis according to IEC 62676 Part 5. This method is used to provide a standard result which can be used to compare different cameras.

Essential Video Analytics

The built-in video analysis reinforces the Intelligence- at-the-Edge concept and now delivers even more powerful features. Essential Video Analytics is ideal for use in controlled environments with limited detection ranges.

The system reliably detects, tracks, and analyzes objects, and alerts you when predefined alarms are triggered. A smart set of alarm rules makes complex tasks easy and reduces false alarms to a minimum. Metadata is attached to your video to add sense and structure. This enables you to quickly retrieve the relevant images from hours of stored video. Metadata can also be used to deliver irrefutable forensic evidence or to optimize business processes based on people counting or crowd density information. Calibration is quick and easy – just enter the height of the camera. The internal gyro/accelerometer sensor provides the rest of the information to precisely calibrate the video analytics.

Intelligent Auto Exposure

Fluctuations in backlight and front light can ruin your images. To achieve the perfect picture in every situation, Intelligent Auto Exposure automatically adjusts the exposure of the camera. It offers superb front light compensation and incredible backlight compensation by automatically adapting to changing light conditions.

Intelligent Dynamic Noise Reduction

Quiet scenes with little or no movement require a lower bitrate. By intelligently distinguishing between noise and relevant information, Intelligent Dynamic Noise Reduction reduces bitrate by up to 50%. Because noise is reduced at the source during image capture, the lower bitrate does not compromise on video quality.

Intelligent Dynamic Noise Reduction adjusts spatial and temporal filtering (3DNR) based on intelligent analysis of the scene content. Motion compensated temporal filtering (MCTF) reduces motion blur normally associated with standard temporal filtering. This maintains image quality of fast moving objects while still optimizing bitrate.

With Intelligent Dynamic Noise Reduction, our focus is to significantly reduce storage costs, and lessen network strain by only using bandwidth when needed.

Bitrate optimized profile

The average typical optimized bandwidth in kbits/s for various image rates is shown in the table

Scene modes

The camera has a very intuitive user interface that allows fast and easy configuration. Nine configurable modes are provided with the best settings for a variety of applications. Different scene modes can be selected for day or night situations.

Multiple streams

The innovative multi-streaming feature delivers various H.264 streams together with an M‐JPEG stream. These streams facilitate bandwidth-efficient viewing and recording as well as integration with third-party video management systems.

The camera can run multiple independent streams that allows to set a different resolution and frame rate on the first and second stream. The user can also choose to use a copy of the first stream. The third stream uses the I-frames of the first stream for recording; the fourth stream shows a JPEG image at a maximum of 10 Mbit/s.

Regions of interest and E-PTZ

Regions of Interest (ROI) can be user defined. The remote E-PTZ (Electronic Pan, Tilt and Zoom) controls allow you to select specific areas of the parent image. These regions produce separate streams for remote viewing and recording. These streams, together with the main stream, allow the operator to separately monitor the most interesting part of a scene while still retaining situational awareness.

Intelligent Tracking can follow objects within the defined regions of interest. Intelligent Tracking can autonomously detect and track moving objects or the user can click on an object which the tracker will then follow.

Easy installation

Power for the camera can be supplied via a Power- over-Ethernet compliant network cable connection. With this configuration, only a single cable connection is required to view, power, and control the camera. Using PoE makes installation easier and more cost- effective, as cameras do not require a local power source.

The camera can also be supplied with power from +12 VDC power supplies. To increase system reliability, the camera can be simultaneously connected to both PoE and +12 VDC supplies. If one power source fails, the other source takes over without a reboot so providing power redundancy.

The automatic zoom/focus lens wizard makes it easy for an installer to accurately zoom and focus the camera for both day and night operation. The wizard is activated from the PC or from the on-board camera push button making it easy to choose the workflow that suits best.

The AVF (Automatic Varifocal) feature means that the zoom can be changed without opening the camera. The automatic motorized zoom/focus adjustment with 1:1 pixel mapping ensures the camera is always accurately focused.

Aesthetic vandal resistant design

The compact aesthetic design is suitable for installations where housing size and appearance are important. The cast-aluminum housing, polycarbonate window, and hardened inner liner can withstand the equivalent of 55 kg (120 lbs) of force (IK10). The camera is also protected against water and dust. Using the proprietary pan/tilt/rotation mechanism, installers can select the exact field of view. Mounting options are numerous, including surface, wall, corner, and suspended-ceiling mounting.

Storage management

Recording management can be controlled by the Bosch Video Recording Manager (Video Recording Manager) or the camera can use iSCSI targets directly without any recording software.

Edge recording

Insert a memory card into the card slot to store up to 2 TB of local alarm recording. Pre-alarm recording in RAM reduces recording bandwidth on the network, and extends the effective life of the memory card.

Cloud-based services

The camera supports time-based or alarm-based JPEG posting to four different accounts. These accounts can address FTP servers or cloud-based storage facilities (for example, Dropbox). Video clips or JPEG images can also be exported to these accounts.

Alarms can be set up to trigger an e-mail or SMS notification so you are always aware of abnormal events.

Automatic image rotation

The integrated gyro/accelerometer sensor automatically corrects the image orientation in steps of 90° if the camera is mounted at right angles or upside down. The sensor image can also be rotated manually through steps of 90°. To efficiently capture details in long hallways without loss of resolution, mount the camera at right angles. The image is displayed upright at full resolution on your monitor.

Hybrid operation

A surge-protected analog video output allows full hybrid operation. This means that high resolution IP video streaming and an analog video output are available simultaneously. The hybrid functionality offers an easy migration path from legacy CCTV to a modern IP-based system.

True day/night switching

The camera is a true day/night camera with a mechanical filter for vivid daytime color and exceptional night-time imaging while maintaining sharp focus under all lighting conditions. The filter can be switched remotely, or automatically via a light level sensor or contact input.

Data security

The camera can also provide up to 60 images per second. The aesthetic vandal-resistant housing makes the camera suitable for indoor or outdoor installation.

System overview

Compared to SD cameras, this camera offers, at no higher cost, motorized autofocus, higher resolution, better sensitivity, higher frame rates, and improved picture quality, and is still more bandwidth-efficient. Video storage costs are significantly reduced.

Functions

Exceptional low-light performance

The latest sensor technology combined with the sophisticated noise suppression results in a sensitivity of 0.017 lx in color. The low-light performance is so good that the camera continues to provide excellent color performance even with a minimum of ambient light. The camera is a true day/night camera with a mechanical filter for truly outstanding nighttime performance (0.0057 lx in monochrome). The filter can be switched remotely, or automatically via a light level sensor or contact input.

Content Based Imaging Technology

Content Based Imaging Technology (CBIT) is used to radically improve image quality in all lighting conditions and to identify areas for enhanced processing. The camera examines the scene using Intelligent Video Analytics and provides feedback to re- tune the image processing. This provides better detail in the areas that matter and better all-round performance. With IVA, the Intelligent Auto Exposure technology, for example, allows you to view moving objects in bright and dark areas of a scene.

Intelligent Dynamic Noise Reduction reduces bandwidth and storage requirements The camera uses Intelligent Dynamic Noise Reduction which actively analyzes the contents of a scene and reduces noise artifacts accordingly. The low-noise image and the efficient H.264 compression technology provide clear images while reducing bandwidth and storage by up to 50% compared to other H.264 cameras. This results in reduced-bandwidth streams that still retain a high image quality and smooth motion. The camera provides the most usable image possible by cleverly optimizing the detail-to-bandwidth ratio.

Area-based encoding

Area-based encoding is another feature which reduces bandwidth. Compression parameters for up to eight user-definable regions can be set. This allows uninteresting regions to be highly compressed, leaving more bandwidth for important parts of the scene.

The average typical optimized bandwidth in kbits/s for various image rates is shown in the table:

Fast performance

The 60 images-per-second mode provides for optimum performance in fast action scenes and is particularly suitable for casino and banking applications.

Multiple streams

Functions

Dynamic Noise Reduction

Smart encoding capabilities reduce the bandwidth consumption to extremely low levels. The camera is capable of quad streaming which allows the camera to deliver independent, configurable streams for live viewing, recording, or remote monitoring via constrained bandwidths.

Each of these streams can be adapted independently to deliver high quality video, perfectly tailored to purpose, while reducing bit rate by up to 80% compared to a standard camera.

H.265 high-efficiency video encoding

The camera is designed on the most efficient and powerful H.264 and H.265/HEVC encoding platform. The camera is capable of delivering high-quality and high-resolution video with very low network load. With a doubling of encoding efficiency, H.265 is the compression standard of choice for IP video surveillance systems.

More flexibility in streaming capabilities

The camera has three independent encoder streams. Users can configure each stream individually to change the video resolution and the frame rate. Users have two options:

1. Let the camera deliver what is possible based on its encoding performance across the streams equally.

2. Select one of the three streams to be prioritized, for example, to guarantee “quality of service” for the recording stream.

Users can select the coding standard (H.264/H.265) for each stream. Each stream also has its own set of 8 encoder profiles that users can configure.

Recording and storage management

Recording management can be controlled by the Bosch Video Recording Manager application, or the camera can use local storage and iSCSI targets directly without any recording software.

Local storage can be used for recording “at the edge” or for Automatic Network Replenishment (ANR) technology to improve the overall recording reliability. Pre-alarm recording in RAM reduces bandwidth consumption on the network and extends the effective life of the memory card.

Edge recording

Insert a memory card into the card slot to store up to 2 TB of local alarm recording. Pre-alarm recording in RAM reduces recording bandwidth on the network, and extends the effective life of the memory card.

It has advanced edge recording providing a reliable storage solution possible due to the combination of these functions: • Industrial SD card support allows for extreme

lifetime

Intelligent Video Analytics on the edge

This intelligence-at-the-edge concept allows a decision on which videos are captured based on video content analysis. By only selecting alarm video for streaming or recording, less bandwidth and storage is used. Alarm conditions can be signaled by a relay output on the unit or an alarm connection, to stream video to a decoder or video management system. Alarms can also be transmitted to a video management system to start extended alarm scenarios.

As well as creating alarms, Intelligent Video Analytics produces metadata that describes the content of the analyzed scene. This metadata is sent over the network—and may also be recorded—together with the video stream.

With a future-proof design, the camera can tackle new use cases by delivering more reliable detections and thus more insights on what is happening in a scene. Based on the open platform principle, these capabilities are leveraged by Intelligent Video Analytics by Bosch as well as by third-party apps from the Application store from by Bosch as well as by third-party apps from the Application store from Azena.

The inteox family also offers models with Neural Network based object classifiers (-OC versions).

Traffic monitoring for intersections, tunnels and highways (NDE-7604-AL-OC) Intelligent Video Analytics 8.10 comes with new artificial intelligent detectors for cars, trucks, busses, bikes and persons, allowing for traffic monitoring at intersections, tunnels and highways including traffic light queue length detection and accurate counting statistics even in dense traffic.

High-performance people counting (NDE-7604-AL- OC) Intelligent Video Analytics 8.10 offers high- performance people counting. Recommended are top- down views for minimal inter-person-occlusion. In other fields of view, new artificial intelligent detectors for persons detect and separate these for accurate counts.

Camera Trainer

Based on examples of target objects and non-target objects, the Camera Trainer program uses machine learning to allow the user to define objects of interest and generate detectors for them. In contrast to the moving objects that the Intelligent Video Analytics application detects, the Camera Trainer program detects both moving and non-moving objects and classifies them immediately. Using Configuration Manager, you can configure the Camera Trainer program using both live video as well as recordings available through the respective camera. The resulting detectors can be downloaded and uploaded for distribution to other cameras.

A free of charge license is required to activate the Camera Trainer program.

DORI coverage

DORI (Detect, Observe, Recognize, Identify) is a standard system (EN-62676-4) for defining the ability of a person viewing the video to distinguish persons or objects within a covered area. The maximum distance at which a camera/lens combination can meet these criteria is shown below:

8 MP camera with 3.6 mm – 10 mm lens

Data security

Special measures ensure the highest level of security for device access and data transport. On initial setup, the camera is only accessible over secure channels and enforces a password. Web browser and viewing client access can be protected using HTTPS or other secure protocols that support state-of-the-art TLS 1.2 with updated cipher suites including AES encryption

with 256 bit keys. Only authenticated firmware can be uploaded. A three-level password protection with security recommendations allows users to customize device access.

Network and device access can be protected using 802.1x network authentication with EAP/TLS. Superior protection from malicious attacks is guaranteed by the Embedded Login Firewall, on-board Trusted Platform Module (TPM) and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) support.

The advanced certificate handling offers:

Self-signed unique certificates automatically
created when required

Client and server certificates for authentication
Client certificates for proof of authenticity
Certificates with encrypted private keys Only trusted and authenticated third-party apps can be uploaded. A safe sandbox environment enables the secure execution of trusted third-party software. There is full transparency on individual app requirements to access system resources (listed in the Application store from Azena).
System integration and ONVIF conformance

The camera conforms to the ONVIF Profile S, ONVIF Profile G, ONVIF Profile M, and ONVIF Profile T specifications. For H.265 configuration, the camera supports Media Service 2, which is part of ONVIF Profile T. Compliance with these standards guarantees interoperability between network video products regardless of manufacturer.

Third-party integrators can easily access the internal feature set of the camera for integration into large projects. Visit the Bosch Integration Partner Program (IPP) website (ipp.boschsecurity.com) for more information.

Modern data center challenges require a new approach to storage infrastructure

In the new data era, the combination of massive amounts of data and unparalleled technology innovation has given businesses of all sizes the opportunity to become disruptive, digital powerhouses.  But despite this potential, many learn that digital transformation can be complex and challenging. Data has become more diverse than ever before – and it is now being created, processed and stored everywhere, from edge to cloud. Most organizations have found that no single infrastructure can address all their data requirements, so they utilize different architectures, creating siloes of IT resources that are managed and consumed independently. At the same time, IT is under increasing pressure to deliver greater levels of simplicity and agility on the business side.  Enterprise-grade, on-premises storage must now provide the same operational flexibility as cloud, becoming ever more adaptable, automated and easier to integrate with existing management frameworks.  To meet these conflicting demands, a new architecture and approach to storage is required. Dell Technologies introduces PowerStore – a modern storage appliance designed for the data era. This game-changing new platform unlocks the power of data, regardless of its structure or location, helping you adapt and transform your IT without disrupting current operations.

Start with best-in-class

Purpose-built storage arrays have evolved over the years to fill an essential role in the datacenter, providing ever-expanding levels of performance, capacity, and resiliency for mission-critical workloads. PowerStore begins with the very best of modern storage technology, delivering a new kind of storage appliance with advanced services to complement and extend existing onpremises environments.

Any workload

PowerStore’s single architecture for block, file, and VMware vVols leverages the latest technologies to support an enterprise-class variety of traditional and modern workloads – from relational databases, to ERP and EMR apps, cloud native applications, and file-based workloads such as content repositories and home directories.  DC, low-line power and NEBS-ready solutions are available. The ability to accommodate application, multi-protocol network and multi-format storage diversity (physical and virtual volumes, containers, traditional files) within a single 2U appliance provides business-enabling flexibility and helps IT simplify and consolidate their infrastructure.

Performance optimized

Designed to leverage next-gen innovations such as end-to-end NVMe (both FC and Ethernet) and dual-port Intel® Optane™ solid state drives (SSDs) as Storage Class Memory (SCM), PowerStore delivers up to 7x more IOPs3 and 3x lower latency4 for real-world workloads compared to our previous storage generation, giving you all the headroom you need to ensure long-term value through multiple solution lifecycles.

Scale up and scale out

Expanding the capabilities of your initial PowerStore configuration is simple and extremely efficient, as capacity and performance may be scaled independently.  Each active-active PowerStore appliance can grow to over 2.8 PB effective capacity,5 and multiple appliances can be clustered for greater performance.

Efficiency without compromise

Regardless of how you grow, PowerStore costs remain consistently low.  Deduplication and compression are “always on,” and thanks to Intel QuickAssist hardware acceleration, PowerStore systems provide a guaranteed average 4:1 data reduction6 without compromising performance.

Make it simpler, and more intelligent

But it’s not just performance and scale.  PowerStore also delivers unprecedented levels of intelligence and automation, eliminating complexity, while enabling faster delivery of new applications and services with up to 99% less management interaction

Programmable infrastructure

PowerStore streamlines application development and automates storage workflows through integration with VMware and a broad ecosystem of leading management and orchestration frameworks.  You can provision PowerStore services directly from the application toolsets you use most. For example, IT and DevOps users can take advantage of plug-ins for VMware (vRO Plugin), Kubernetes (CSI Driver) and Ansible (Ansible Module), reducing deployment timeframes from days to seconds.

Autonomous appliance

PowerStore includes built-in intelligence to eliminate dozens of time-consuming tasks and decision points.  Labor-intensive processes like initial volume placement, migrations, load balancing and issue resolution are automated by PowerStore’s onboard machine learning (ML) engine, which fine-tunes both individual and clustered appliances, optimizing performance and cost as the solution evolves to meet new challenges.  SmartFabric Storage Software support even automates network tasks in an end-to-end NVMe environment.

Proactive health and cybersecurity analytics

CloudIQ, included with PowerStore, gives administrators faster time to insight,10 with all the intel they need to take quick action and more efficiently manage their storage environment. By combining machine learning, advanced analytics and human intelligence, the cloud-based app reduces risk, spots anomalies before trouble occurs, and helps even IT generalists plan for future storage needs with powerful forecasting. CloudIQ makes storage management tasks easier, so you can get back to focusing on your business goals.

Ready to adapt when you are

If the advantages stopped here, PowerStore would already offer incredible storage value with a powerful lineup of enterprise-class features.  However, the PowerStore difference goes much deeper with revolutionary new capabilities that not only support current needs, transforming the way you run your data center today, but also empower you to evolve your infrastructure as your business evolves – as unpredictable as that may be.

Flexible architecture

PowerStore’s container-based software architecture, known as PowerStoreOS, improves performance, fault tolerance and security by isolating individual OS components as microservices. It also enables feature portability and rapid delivery of new or enhanced services over time. Administrators can choose to deploy PowerStoreOS in a bare metal configuration directly on the PowerStore hardware, or within a virtual machine (VM) running on PowerStore’s optional built-in VMware hypervisor, providing yet another layer of isolation, intelligence and abstraction.  When PowerStoreOS runs on a VM, administrators can also access the hypervisor to deploy their own applications directly on the appliance, using the same VMware tools and methods they use with external hosts. This gamechanging capability, known as AppsON, is ideal for data-intensive workloads in core or edge locations where infrastructure simplicity and density is required, as well as for “infrastructure applications” such as anti-virus or monitoring software.

With AppsON, PowerStore can provide both storage capacity for applications running throughout the enterprise and a VMware-based environment for hosting applications locally.

Best of all, since VMware ESXi is the underlying foundation, administrators can move seamlessly between these services.  PowerStore cluster management, combined with VMware tools including vMotion and storage vMotion, enables easy application mobility in and out of PowerStore to other VMware targets.  Using a single storage instance, applications can be deployed on networked servers, hyperconverged infrastructure, or directly on the PowerStore appliance, and migrated transparently among any of them, allowing IT and application owners to quickly deploy and reassign workloads to the most effective environment based on current requirements and available resources.

Flexible deployment

PowerStore’s compact footprint and adaptable design is ideal for:

  • Edge-based IoT data analytics and remote office applications where ease of deployment and advanced replication is required

  • Core data center modernization, when flexibility, application mobility, and VMware integration is critical for consistent operations

  • Multi-cloud access, including hybrid solutions that allow customers to integrate on-premises infrastructure with public cloud while maintaining management and operational consistency. Leveraging Dell Technologies Cloud Validated Designs, PowerStore can provide an ideal landing zone for data intensive workloads on VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF). PowerStore is also supported with Dell EMC Cloud Storage Services, which directly connects PowerStore to the users’ cloud(s) of choice, as a managed service. Cloud Storage Services can provide DRaaS to VMware Cloud on Amazon Web Services (AWS) with full operational consistency using VMware.   PowerStore may be deployed as a standalone appliance complementing existing infrastructure, or as a storage option within Dell Technologies VxBlock for CI, our all-in-one autonomous infrastructure cloud platform.

Flexible consumption

PowerStore simplifies storage acquisition and ownership with a range of flexible purchase options that match the needs of your organization.  From traditional CAPEX to APEX Custom Solutions pay-per-use offerings that align spending with usage, PowerStore optimizes both technological and financial outcomes.  Whether you’re adding storage only, or launching an end-to-end solution involving multiple product categories, we’ll make sure you get the best possible return on your IT spend – both at the start and as you expand your environment.

Continuously modern platform

Within any deployment scenario, PowerStore is designed to eliminate costly and disruptive forklift migrations by seamlessly evolving both the software and hardware capabilities of the platform as new technologies become available.   All array software is included with the hardware purchase.

There are no feature licenses to buy and maintain, and future software enhancements are provided at no cost.  Anytime Upgrade, the industry’s most flexible controller upgrade program, 10 gives you immediate access to the latest hardware developments, allowing you to add state-of-the-art performance while preserving your original enclosure and drive investments. Unlike other programs, Anytime Upgrade provides multiple ways to evolve your PowerStore system.

  • Data-in-place node upgrades: Replace the nodes (controllers) in your existing appliance with Next Gen + Higher Model versions.

  • Scale-out upgrade: Apply a discount credit to expand your PowerStore cluster with a second system equal to your current model.

Each upgrade category is completely non-disruptive, and may be executed at any time during your maintenance contract.  You are not required to renew your contract to receive the upgrade.

The future of storage is here

From both a technology and an operational perspective, PowerStore complements and advances your current infrastructure.  Built from the ground up to provide unprecedented capabilities leveraging next-gen technology, the adaptable new platform simultaneously offers a familiar context and mature, comprehensive ecosystem support. Whether your current environment includes traditional 3-tier solutions (servers, networks, arrays), hyperconverged infrastructure, hybrid or public cloud, or a mixture of everything, PowerStore helps you simplify and modernize without adding another management silo, allowing your IT staff leverage current skillsets while investing confidently in the future.
